Spring Nationals

Q: When and where is the Licensee Welcome Reception and do I need a ticket?

A: Licensee Welcome reception is Thursday evening at 6:30 pm: All Licensees and one guest are cordially invited to a Welcome Reception to kick off the 2024 Spring Nationals in Dallas with beverages and light hors d’oeuvres hosted by ATA. Must be 18 years of age to attend. Must have RSVP'd to enter. Licensees on a waitlist will be notified with a call if they are able to attend.





Q: What day/time is rank/midterm Testing and do I need a spectator band?

A: International Rank testing is Friday, March 29 at 8:00 am. Spectator wrist bands are required if you are NOT a judge or a testing/midterm participant. Spectator Admission MUST be purchased online via our website or by scanning a QR code at the event. You may pick up your purchased wristbands by providing your name or emailed QR code to the Help Desk wristband station. Judges in Blue suit or uniform and participants in uniform do NOT need a wristband.




Q: What are the WMA store hours?

A: Store opens at 7am and closes at 5pm on Friday and Saturday.


Q: What day are Master's competing?

A: Master's compete on Friday, March 29th. Take note of your ring assignment to insure you do not miss out.

Q: Can I pay for spectator admission at the help desk?

A: No. Spectator Admission MUST be purchased online HERE or via by scanning the QR code at the event. You will receive an email confirmation with a QR code, bring that to the Help Desk Wristband Station to receive your wristband.

Q: Do I have to wear my wristband on my wrist?

A: Yes. You will not be allowed entry without presenting your wristband on your wrist.


Q: Can I pay with Cash at the event?

A: No cash will be accepted at the event. No cash or cards will be accepted to purchase spectator admission.

General Event

Q: If I am competing and my friend or family members want to come watch me, how can they enter?

A: They will need to purchase a Spectator Admission wristband. You can purchase these on our event webpage or at the Help Desk onsite.

Q: Do I as a competitor need a wrist band to enter the tournament site?

A: They will need to purchase a Spectator Admission wristband. You can purchase these on our event webpage or at the Help Desk onsite.

Q: What day/time is rank/midterm Testing and do I need a spectator band?

Q: Where is the lost and found?

A: Next to the podium on the main stage in the tournament hall. The convention center will also have a lost and found, check with any convention center staff or security.

Tournament/Competition

Q: How can I find my ring assignments?

A: If you registered by the online regular pricing deadline, you can find your ring assignment online on the event webpage. If you registered late or on site, you will need to visit the ATA Help Desk to get your ring assignment.

Q: When and where should I report/check in for my competition?

A: You should arrive to your assigned ring or the specified staging location about 10 to 15 minutes prior to your ring assignment details.



Q: As a competing Master who do I get my ring assignment information from?

A: Prior to the event, get Master's competition assignments from Chief Master Stevens. On site you can get this information from Chief Master Stevens, Chief Master Rivera, Sr. Master Pavlik, or Sr. Master Hornbuckle at the tournament staff table.

Q: What is the process and cost to ADD competition to my existing paid registration.

A: To add competition to an existing registration - visit the ATA Help Desk, complete the top section of the registration slip, for the events you wish to add, then take to help desk to complete & get your add on slip for competition and make payment. Fees are: $75.00 an event.

Q: As a color belt what rank should I be registering to compete as?

A: You should compete as and wear the highest color belt that has been awarded to you. For example - if you are awarded a Camo belt on Friday before the tournament - you should compete as a camo belt. If you are not comfortable with sparring, you should choose NOT to spar. You should wear the camo belt. Visit the ATA Help Desk if you need to have our ring assignment changed due to a rank change.

Q: As a color belt what curriculum should I compete with for Traditional Form?

A: As a color belt you can perform the color belt form material as selected by your instructor. See the tournament rules for more details.






Q: As a 1st recommended Black Belt - what rank can I compete as?

A: As a 1st Recommended Black Belt one can choose to compete as a color belt or a black belt. Once the choice is made it must be the same for all competition at this tournament. Visit the ATA Help Desk if you need your ring assignment changed due to rank change. See the tournament rules, posted on line, for more details.

Q: As a 1st recommended Black Belt - what Form material can i perform for competition?

A: A 1BR competing "up" in a 1BD black belt ring MUST perform one of these 3 forms: Choong Jung 2, Choong Jung 1, or In Wha 2. They are not allowed to go any lower and are NOT allowed to perform Shim Jun. See the tournament rules for more details.

 
Q: As a 1BD or higher Black Belt - what rank can I compete as?

A: Competitors that are 1st Degree Decided Black Belt rank or higher who are planning to test for a higher rank during the current tournament season, MAY opt to compete in the next higher rank division. See tournament rules for more details.

Q: As a black belt what curriculum should i compete with for Traditional Form?

A: Black Belts may not compete with a form designated for a rank higher than their current rank, even if they are “competing up” for the tournament season. See the tournament rules for more details.



Q: Is my child competing in a Tiger Division or a Junior Division?

A: Verify, division status (Tiger vs Junior), with your child's instructor prior to registering so competition times are not missed. Tiger divisions do NOT earn points towards the State Champ and Districts competition programs.

Q: What day do 4th & 5th Degree Black Belts compete?

A: Take note that there is 4th and 5th Degree competion scheduled for both Friday and Saturday. Check your competitition ring assgnment time to insure you do not miss out.



Q: What if I have had a rank change since I registered?

A: Visit the Help Desk prior to the start of competition. It is important to do this the first day as this may affect the date and time of the competition.






















Q: Do I need to visit the ATA Help Desk regarding competition registration or check in?

A: 1. If you registered by the online regular pricing deadline, and you do not need to make any changes to your registration, your ring assignment is available on ATAMartialArts.com: No, you do not need to visit the ATA Help Desk. You should arrive to your assigned ring/staging location about 10 to 15 minutes prior to your ring assignment details. 2. If you registered by the online LATE pricing: YES, you need to visit the ATA Help Desk to pick up your Late Registration Slip. This will have your ring assignment on the slip. 3. If you registered by the online regular or online LATE pricing AND you need to make a change to your registered division to correct any issues with age, rank, or gender information that ATA has on file: YES, you need to visit the ATA Help Desk to make the necessary change(s). Make sure to look for the line labeled "Change Division." 4. If you registered at any time AND you wish to add on one or more events: YES, make sure to complete the On-Site Registration form before entering the registrations lines on site. 5. If you did not register for any events, but wish to register on-site for competition: YES, make sure to complete the On-Site Registration form before entering the on site registration line(s).

WMA Store

Q: I / my child left uniform/belt/gear/weapon at home. Can I purchase it here?

A: The WMA store does stock some items, however, there is no guarantee that the exact size you need is on hand. The WMA Store does not carry uniforms or belts at events.

Q: What are the WMA store hours?

A: National Events: Store opens at 7am Friday & Saturday.
Worlds: Store opens at 7am Thursday - Sunday.

Q: Where / when is the Masters Training?
